Bear ears

Not sure where to post this but thought this was as good a place as any.
First off I do not tan myself. All my tanning is sent out.
I have had problems with the ear skin on a few bears. It is the back side of the ears not the front. The skin is like a wet paper towel. Tears easily and almost falls apart. It is sometimes both ears and sometimes only 1 ear. All my bears are dry tanned and only maybe 1 out of 10 does this? Could it be in proper field care, acid rot or maybe something to do with the degreasing process?

    How old are the dry tanned skins that the ears fall apart on?  I would confront your tannery on the matter.

Tans are new. Maybe 1 month old as the worst case. I don't really think it is a tan problem but it could be. I have not seen this problem with anything but the Bears and I have had hundreds of other hides/capes tanned with this tanner and I am very happy with them. Everything is prepped well and as stated no slippage. Maybe the ears are on the verge of slipping but just not quite?
