« on: January 21, 2012, 06:13:35 AM »

What months are the best for Axis in rut? I know they can breed anytime of the year but what would be the best month to hunt them?
How much do there necks swell?
Is there a prime time for coat primnes/color?

in the texas hill country, where we have a few axis, june and july are the months when the majority are  out of velvet and rutting.when they are in velvet are just out, their body condition and coat color are poorer.
that being said,i killed this one in late september and he was in good shape
