80kg boar I shot in Western QLD. average pig size

Gday from qld aus.

I'm after some tips on how to mount crabs. I presume you would take the carapace off and clean old the insides. How do you clean out the claws and legs etc.? I thought I read that you use a syringe and inject formaldehyde but wouldn't you have to clean out some meat first to stop it from stinking. Any tips I can receive would be appreciated. We get mud or mangrove crabs over here which I can just duck down to the creek about 15 minutes away and catch some.

Check out my website www.aussiepighunting.com.au

Thanks for your time

Regards Troy

I believe there is a tutorial on here that George did on blue crabs. You might want to check it out.

most of the meat can be removed by extrcting from inside the shell.....for the pincher part i either break it off or cut around the membrane behind the pincher claw...in the small part of the legs i inject DA-borax solution....the reason i do it this way, is that the crab will dry fast....like 8 days....or you can use George's method to inject the whole crab...whatever method you use will work...i'm use to my method..as i can clean a lot of crabs fast....also by getting inside you can add small gauge wires to the legs to help pose it...in any method the crabs do become very brittle, i usually coat the entire crab in envrotex resin after painting to protect it....or put it in a case

This might be something that you can answer..Would you do anything special to protect the shed- empty crab shells that they cast off? I have a few from our pet red-claw crabs, and I just have them on a shelf.. they are small (only about 2 inches wide) and neat to save, but I just don't want to find them dust particles one day.
