Again, I wasn't being a smart ass, or wasn't trying to be.

Yep RD, I do ask a lot of questions. Thought that was what the idea was. Oh well.

With all the intelligent people here, why has nobody tried to rig up a portable heater like the bucket heaters out a lower water heater element, tstat, and PVC? Seems it would be better than buying something you already know will defect.

Yea...that IS being a smart-ass. Nothing wrong with asking questions......as long as they are at least half-assed intelligent ones!

First off, the intelligent people part was sincere. Second, with all the degreasing tank ideas y'all come up with surely someone can put something together.

Caswell heaters are JUNK!!

The Allied bucket heaters are good if you use them what they are used for.  I posted this last year when others were having problems, you need to silicon the cord where it enters the heater head.  If you don't, water will condensate and drip down the cord into the heater heat and short out.  This will happen quickly if you have the whole heater assembly in a covered degreasing tank.  I learned this after I burned 2 up.  When I cut them apart to trouble shot them I found the problem.  Now I have two years on two of my Allied bucket heaters and they run 24/7 365  days a year.  Also insulating the buckets or tanks will help extend heater life and save energy costs.
