tanned wallhanger ?

  recieved a soft tanned moose cape from the tannery today. The bell was all but cut off and then shoved through the hole made and left to dry on the inside. The ears are also inside out.
   Is this kinda stuff common to end up with?
Just wondering if we should expect this often.

My guess would be that tannery will do them all the same, we don't all do it that way though.

 Didn't want to get all bent out of shape and start complaining, if this was common. I rehydrated the ears and got them turned back out. I was able to get the bell straightend out as well. Only thing now is a hole right in the center of the cape. I thought was a bullet graze by the path of hair shaved off. Customer says there was no hole there!
   All can be fixed. Just more time involved.
  Never fooled with many wallhangers. Can I cut out the spot where the blaze of hair is missing and sew, like a wet tan? Or will it make an ugly pucker in the cape?

Just rehydrate that section of the cape, cut and sew although u could probably sew it up with no problems without rehydrating
