not exactly a reptile... but how could I preserve a small frog without having to keep it in a jar of preservation liquid? I'd like to put it in a little habitat, if possible.

Casting like Barry said would be what I'd do.  Pose frog, freeze frog, make an alginate mold and pour Bondo thinned with resin in cured mold. Take some good reference photos of the frog or google some and paint it. You may can even make 2 or 3 before your mold goes bad. Wink
