need some advice on my next competition piece

I have a pair of valley quail im doing and I was wondering where can i get some supplies for my base. I will probably get some sage brush from McKenzie but where can i get soil and some maybe small juniper branches, or some sort of knotty piece of wood called (something that begins with a m) burrow. I seen it on a dvd but not sure what it called. Im from New York so its not like I can go outside and get supplies. Any help would be greatly appericated.

did you do a search on the habitat thread? I sometimes use used coffee grounds for soil.

Shawn you can make your dirt with nothing but a mix of either natural soil or potting soil, peatmoss and elmers glue and some water. Mix some dried grass in if you want texture or use sand instead of soil for a sandy substrate several color available at your local hardware store for play ground sand

Don't you have a home depot around to get sand?
