JimE..........If you feel like the squirrel is not tanning ..........just pour some more KT in the mix that you already have............The squirrel will only soak up just so much tan and it will not over tan...............
I would rather have too much than not enough.........
Just out of curiosity George......................I tested the ph and the salinity of a properly mixed Krowtan............The Ph is between 2.5 and 3 and the salt is about 60% but it will not change as long as you don't keep on re using it so theres really no need to test it..............
...............and ..................Yes...............I'm one those direction changers LOL...............but I have a darn good reason for the changes........ and I get better results...........I still stayed with the basic steps just changed a few...................but I've done that with just about every tan I've ever used and I'm sure that I'm not the only one...............
KT works great on squirrels and gives you plenty of time to work them without worry of slipage like a DP will..........If you handle a DPed squirrel long enough and don't get it mounted quick enough..........it can slip..............especially beginners with their unknowing hands............
Good Luck
Tom

Every batch I ever used turns clear toward the end. Just took a boar out of the tan today, and it was clear too.
