"There are some things that you should say no too. That was one of them in my opinion."
Why? It's been a really fun project and an easy to please customer.
I had a hard time putting the clay over the skull cause the skull looked so cool!
The pins are there to make the ears dry flat, there are no liners inside, the ears are not meant to have life like shape, they are meant to form the points of the pentagram.

I wouldn't say no to it either. It's an opportunity to do something out of the box! Maybe a little too weird for some people's taste though.

Did you turn the ears or is the cartilage still in? I think that drying them like that is probably a bad idea. You probably should have put liners or bondo in, so that they'd hold their shape and not curl or warp.

They are turned. They have showed no signs of curling or warping so far. If they do I'll rewet them and put in some bondo.

Also I can always glue them down to the plaque itself, again, does not need to be life like.

I noticed this on my work table, I had put the wet dyed goat hide down on it while I was making the clay form.
I think I'm going to do this with ink on a piece of paper with another hide and see if it makes for good art work. i've seen it done with fish.

Thanks! For the record I have no idea what the symbols mean, got them on line...I hope I haven't summoned any demons.
Here is another shot, I had to muck with the exposure to show the detail. Black animals are hard to photo.
