I'm a rookie trapper and I'm certainly no taxidermist.  I'm selling all my fur green so I have no experience fleshing and putting up fur.  I caught a couple skunks and decided to try to put them up myself because I did not want them in the freezer with my food.  I did not get all the fat off the hide like I should have.  They have been on the stretcher for a while now and are dried except for being greasy where the fat remained.  Is there anyway to salvage them so I can get them tanned or are they trash now?

There's a helpful DVD by Kyle Katz on Skunks specifically: http://www.kaatzbros.com/products.php?start=0&order=products_title&op=details&id=1858.  Also, if you join your state's trapping association, they'll have skinning and fleshing seminars at their conventions which gives you a chance to see up close how the process is done.  If you really want to go crazy, get a 3000 psi pressure washer and you'll flesh pretty much anything (except beaver) super clean and amazingly fast.  Check out Brian Harness' DVD on pressure washer fleshing: https://www.taxidermytrainingunlimited.com/BH-Pressure_Washing.html
