I have seen a few pics here where it looks like a skull is in a ziploc bag while macerating.  Will that work?  i have a several coons and squirrels and figured it would be easier to keep them all separate while macerating by using bags.  so I could just drop the bags in a bucket of water and turn on the heater?  I was assuming they needed airflow, but maybe not.  thanks.

They'll work fine in ziplock bags. I use them to keep my skulls separate when macerating.

I do all my small skulls that way. Works great, no mixing up teeth. Just pour out the mess add fresh water and keep rinsing.

Get rid of the brains and most of the flesh by hand first. If you don't, they can float and come free of the bag. Then things get messed up. If you have different critters in there it's easy to put teeth back though.
