I was using buckeye hide paste then I switched to Roman 555 and i was wondering is there any products at the big box stores like Lowes or Home depot that work as good for hide paste?

Thanks

You really aren't gonna find a better product for the money as the 555. There are others kinds of adhesives out there people use and may get it cheaper from time to time but I won't switch from the 555 ever unless it gets to be much to expensive but I highly doubt that will happen. Hard to beat $20-23 a gallon that I can just pick up in town myself. Micheal Ps hide past mixtures are probably a bit cheaper though but I believe you have to order some of the stuff and then mix it all up yourself. Think he has a tutorial on it. Sometimes at competitions you may get a good deal on hide pastes from the vendors but depends if and how much they bring.

Just ran out and got some more 555. I was just wondering about maybe something else in a pinch.

Straight outta the bucket. Use is on pedestals too and cut the edge of the hide off clean with the edge of the form where it meets the backing with a good even coat of paste and holds super strong. I dont have a single bad thing to say about it.

Some guys talk about using caulks and silicones. Would get the job done if you needed it.

You guys are talking about that wall paper adhesive that you can get at home depot?

I just ordered 5 gallons from home depot online, of the Roman  555. It was delivered for $84.00 to my door, free shipping. You really can't beat that for price. Open it up and transfer a gallon into a smaller resealable container and you're good to go!
That's $16.80 a gallon!
