dumb question is it possible to reuse the salt off of deer capes i know it is cheap but only curios

Wise taxidermists don't risk using diluted and contaminated salt on their hides.

I would only reuse it on a skin that's going to be done hair off (buck skin), salt is too cheap to take a chance on your hair on skins.

Despite it's cheapness, I've been known to reuse it if it's not full of all the little nasties (dirt, blood, grease, & whatever else it draws out). At times the salt from the 2nd salting is pretty clean & I'll reuse it as the 1st salting the next time.......but agreeing with the other guys....it probably shouldn't be done. "Do as I say, not as I do."

In the 40 plus years of working with skins, I can not remember one time of ever reusing salt!
