Hello to all. This is my first post on here of my very first deer mount.I have very much enjoyed researching this site over the past few months in preparation of my mount.I am hoping to get some constructive critisism.I would love to someday own and operate my own taxidermy shop but I guess for now I had better learn to crawl.lol. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

The most glaring issue is the front, upper lid needs lifted quite a bit. Check it against reference

Hey bud, I would focus on the eyes and preobital gland (spelling). There shouldn't be skin showing from the gland and the shape of the eye ia a bit off. From the front it looks to be squinting a bit. Stand facing the deer and gracefully raise the front of the eyelid up. This should create a frontal or forward looking view. Go to the side of the form and pull some off the eye towards the color, you have a lot off white showing. When your done the eye should have an almond shape with the open part in the front of the eye and tapered back

Your critter is a fine first mount

Eye shape is off, too much white showing as well.  Ear placement seems to a bit off as well.  Here's a link to some reference photos on this forum:                                         http://www.taxidermy.net/forum/index.php/topic,223976.0.html

I got into this discipline when I was able to catch that Steve Carell movie Dinner for Schmucks and it was really a nice movie.

Though it was not directly related to taxidermy, it offered a great view at it because his character was very much inclined to this discipline.

I am just starting on it and I am quite excited with how things are going to fall through.

x2 on the eyes they should be more open in the front and lot less white showing, ears maybe pulled forward a little and slightly rotated,Imo.
other then that great job on your first, keep working at it,it will come with time and practice.

Tuck the preorbital hair to hair. I usually stick a small tpin in there to stay, and babysit til dry. As stated the eye shape is off. If it is started to dry, rehydrate with damp cloth and reshape them. The throat patch appears off center. Bottom lip needs to be tucked more as well. If possible rework these areas and it will look much better, not that it looks too bad now. Have fun with it, 3bears
