The Month in Fish Pictures" ~Year 5~ February 2012 Edition!!!!!!!!

A Warm Welcome from Reno Nevada!!! I hope you’re 2012 has began with a good start for your personal and business years alike! Out in Reno for the past month working on a project that will be fun to share when completed. I have the pleasure of working with some great friends and some of the most gifted folks in the business for some of these kinds of projects and for the past few weeks our good friend and incredibly talented fellow fishhead known other then Mr. Trashfish him self Terry Weick has been tearing out he hours of day and night with yours truly. When you get two guys together who love to create and make big things look cool then you can imagine the fun it has been ( hard work too) and I can’t wait to share this “big” fishy project with you!

What a truly outstanding Month in Fish pictures this past last month as I took some time during the day week to see all the great looking at some truly inspiring works of fish art!

We share in fish pictures to find a common place with friendliness and positive comments of motivation as a great place to start in upward in direction of inspiration in being a fish taxidermist! I wish all the best to folks competing in the up coming year and I do wish all the very best in the pursuits of good fish work!

I do hope you have the opportunity to be thankful for your gifts of great passion and talent as an artist! It is a blessing to me for our lives to be joined from time to time to share and learn from one another so thank you for your great taxidermy work and my your lives continue to be blessed with inspiration!!!!

I want to personally say thank you for letting me join you again each installment of Fish Pictures to share in your successes and accomplishments! I have seen first hand the great strides so many have made with beautiful fish work! Good for you and congratulations on your hard work!!!!

I want to also thank all of the great contributors who not only share their personal great talents and work but also rather give such positive inspiration to all of us!

From beginner's to the best in the world we all join in every month in a critique free and hassle free string with nothing more then great artist and inspiring fish taxidermist and carves get together to share with one another their praise and inspiration of good will and friendship to one another. No egos just friendly folks who appreciate the efforts of others!

I want to start the month of February with the last workshop of the year I had the privilege to instruct. This gentleman came from about as far as you can travel to spend nearly a mouth with us at Anglers Artistry. Mr. Steve Pilkington came all the way to New Hampshire from ASHHURST New Zealand to learn a bit of fish taxidermy and more! Steve is a Game Warden and a true outdoorsman to the say the very least! Talking walks up and down the mountain behind the shop or studying the new creatures and animals he discovered for the first time in the States our friend Steve got the most out of a workshop then any one we have ever had spend time with us! A true journey and adventure for a man who traveled so very far!

I hope a few moments of encouragement that every one starts somewhere and can accomplish great this with hard work and great passion for the art of fish taxidermy!

So here goes!

I hope you enjoy the week! See you in March from Washington State!

So here we go and here is to a great February in fish pictures!!!! Enjoy!

You're Friend

Hope to see you soon!

My Best!

Rick Krane

So it begins for Steve and a few Skin mounted fish!

A template forms.

Steve roughs out a few bodies.

Steve working on carving skills.

Once mounted Steve goes over the fits of custom parts.

Due to the need to vizierate the entire cavity of the fish for travel purposes both fish were done as ventral incision pedestals.

Custom eyes and heads.

Steve is ready to paint.

Steve had a pretty cool workshop!

Here’s to a great Month in Fish Pictures!

WOW, nice Work!  Shocked

Here is one albino catfish from Spain - skin mount.  Wink
There was a big damage on the head of fish - I think that's from boat propeller.
