Have searched the web for pricing for this model with no luck at all. Anyone out there know what it's worth? "Thanks!"

Is the stock original? The Blue Book lists the gun with a checkered pistol grip stock. No mention is made of a thumbhole. Second, what is the length of the barrel? It lists 315 Model 600(mfg. 1965-68) with 18 1/2 inch barrel. Then it lists 227 Model 600 Standard(mfg. 1968-71) with a 20 inch barrel in .223. It's value is going to depend on the originality of that stock.

The barrel measures 17 3/4" outside, not sure on the stock as I'm not the original owner.

Barrel length usually includes the chamber, so I am going to assume that you have the model 600 and not the 600 Standard. Unless you can get information to the contrary, I would expect that stock is a replacement, it's definitely not Remington's style, especially in that era. It may be difficult to find an original stock. Still it's a pretty rare model 600 and that would make it worth something to someone who's into Remingtons.

Your rifle Has been customized. Besides barrel length, another way to distinguish between a 600 and 600 standard are the sights. A 600 has a vent ribbed sight. The 600 standard has open iron sights. Your rifle has had them removed at some point. This could be a good way to check how well the rifle was customized. Some cheaper conversions the gunsmith would actually just fill in the sights and flip the barrel over in the stock. If the barrel is a marked Remington barrel and you cannot see where the sights were it's probably an indication of a well done customization. The stock is also a replacement as neither the 600 or 600 standard was offered in a thumbhole variation.
All in all your gun appears to be a well executed customization. Many of the 600 models were customized due to the popularity of their actions. Well it may not have retained its "collector value" it should make a very nice shooter rifle for someone and should be priced accordingly.

I did some poking around also. The 600 was chambered in 222,223,308,243,6mm,and6.5mm rem. mag
There were also the 600 mohawk, and a 75th and 100th anniversary models, which included a 35, and a 350.
The thumbhole stock may have been swapped out , due to bad stocks on a run of 600s. The finish would crack and peel. Even after Remington refinished them. They would do the same thing.

Didn't realize this rifle was so rare. No wonder everyone wants to buy it. I think I'll hang onto it for now. Sorry Ron.

yeah it is hard to find guns like this. I bought my wife a model 600 243 cal. at Missoula,Montana gun show like back in 1991 for $475 and found it onthe last of the 500 tables we looked at. Yeah, rare indeed to find some of these old fine shooters. The 223 inthat gun wouldbe awesume to have, you had better keep this one wildandfree or be kicking yourself later. Don't worry about the money it is worth as much as the fun you will have shooting it. You need to reload for it as well
