If he can get that price, why is it a "ripoff"? I always find it a little funny when folks decide what price another charges is a ripoff. Boyce charges double what you do for a Mt. Lion and others charge 1/2 of what you charge, so is Boyce the ripoff artist or you? Just wondering. I have a freind who has a quote for a coffee table with a Steelhead replica in it for $7000.00. I thought he was crazy to ask that much, till he told me he sold 3 last year. Not so crazy, huh? People can and should charge what they want. Let the public decide. just a thought.

C.J. you're full of yourself here. ANYONE CAN FREEZEDRY. Just everyone can't freeze dry well. Why don't you take a look at American Stuffers and see where this is going. Once you start a mountain lion, do you tie up your shop where you can't do anything else in it for 30-60 days? That's what happens when you close the door on that freeze drying. And liast time I checked, I could buy a Cadillac Escalade for the price of a big professional freeze dry unit. Then to have to deal with the weird asses who're having their pets done so they can lay on the coffee table and draw mites and dust should be worth something.
In my shop I have some animals I simply don't want to do. On those animals I consciously charge an exorbitant fee. I figure if someone's dumb enough to pay that, then I'll just force myself to do it anyway. I recall Marcus Zimmerman being asked in the Super Seminar what he charged for squirrels. He, his brother ken, and Jason Snowberger all chimed it with "$375". The audience gasped and one guy asked him why so much. His answer was (paraphrasing) "Because I don't like doing them and the time they tie up in the shop, I could be mounting something else."

George,
He works in his dad's shop. So he dosen't have a clue as to what it takes to make money. His dad is a very good taxidermist but evidently he hasn't taught CJ the business side of things.

$300 for a squirrel is about half what they are worth.
