Has anyone else besides me received a phone call from an information collection agency asking questions about your business and the growth of the industry in general?

When I asked a few questions about his questions, he said they were gathering info for a PEG that was interested in getting into the supply business.

It was very interesting, the questions they asked.

No this is the first I have heard about it.  Sounds odd though.

Well, I thought it was odd as well to start with.  But the more he asked the more precise the questions got.

For instance what is the age of your clients and are they getting older as the years pass or are new younger hunters getting trophies mounted and percentage were under certain ages.  The questions all lead to the future of the industry, like someone is trying to find out what kind of investment to make into it.

He said he had talked to several folks and had a list to call.  So if anyone gets the call let me know.

It's not a joke because I talked to this guy for 53 minutes and he was very serious, wanting to know how many shoulder mounts I do, how many L/S etc.

Wanting to know how shipping cost affected my ordering habits.  What percentage of mounts I use habitat material on.  All kinds of specific questions.

He also wanted to know my thoughts on the future of the industry and was there room for growth and so on.

He was a very nice and polite guy, just had a lot of questions.

It sounds like someone has hired them to see if it would be a good investment to buy a supply company and is there room to grow it.  Because 99% of the population could care less  about the taxidermy industry.

Wonder who is for sell now?

I got the call tonight, Thursday evening, couldn't talk. He said he would call back tomorrow.  I'm sure I'll be busy working when he calls. 3bears

There's an online survey now too that is very similar. Probably the same people.

Rhasp, I just read the questions on the online survey you are referring to,  and they are very similar.

Someone is for sale and this ain't no Mom and Pops outfit snooping around.

I think McKenzie is buying up all the Easter egg dye companies. This year you'll have to airbrush your eggs, or buy from under the umbrella. I think they call it polytranspar egg dye.

I spoke to them a few nights ago.

The person asking the questions was reading them and just an employee of the company that hired his firm to compile data.

I was hoping to get some of the results, but he had no idea.  Just gathering data.

It did take a long time to complete and through the whole thing I was trying to figure out who could be behind it.
