Can iron out damage skulls?

Can you mix iron out with a degreaser to soak skulls?  Just wondering if iron out will ruin skulls if left in for a long period of time.  Thanks

Does the skull have blood stains? Why would you want to mix chemicals?  I would say hell no!

Just put the skull in 30 volume and heat it. Watch the skull turn white in seconds.

Cause my well water is full of iron and makes skull orangish tint.  Peroxide dont do squat to the iron.  I dont soak my skulls in it for more then 20 minutes.  I was just curious if long periods of time would harm them or not.

If you are worried about your water, go to Walmart and buy some distilled water and use that.  Just a suggestion...

I have used it and I think it will. Use a different water source (pond water?) and use just a brief soak at the end to get rid of any color. It works but I wouldn't trust the stuff for anything longer than an hour.

I also have iron in my water and have to use iron out. I think if you leave it in there for extended periods of time it will start to degrade the bone. I'll normally just soak them for a few hours with no problems but have left stuff in it for a week or so and the bone seems to get chalky and flaky. I experiment with extra skulls I have. My advice is if its something you care about just leave it in long enough to turn it white, which is usually a few minutes at the most for me. then take it out and rinse.
