Mites
«

I have noticed a large amount of brown/tan colored dust type material on my beetles. I have been told that the mites should be white in color. I did notice some white colored critters in the frass. Upon further exmaination of the brown materia, some of it appears to be alive. What type of mites are these? Will "Check-Mite" work for me? Or is this colony "too far gone" I am very new at raising beetles and any help would be appreciated.

Yep, those are mites. You need to get a couple of CheckMite strips into your colony ASAP. It should fix things up. After the initial infestation is under control, I recommend keeping a CheckMite strip in your colony at all times to prevent a repeat of the problem.
Great photograph by the way.

I have never had mites, but after seeing that pic I think I better get prepared just in case. Ordering some CheckMite today.
