I have a dakota 5 and was looking for info to get the edge on the blade, for some reason it got all rust and the edge looks like teeth ?I have about 3/16 of an inch of edge left.I tryed the tuning blade with no luck, any help would be very greatful.I checked the post but nobody said what steel they were using. These blades aren't cheap like you all know and to ship back and forth to get resharpend is also very expensive.

I have been using the little cut off wheels that come in a Dremmel kit.  I put on the opti visor (other wise I'm blind) and hold the wheel in my hand then lightly touch up the edge.  Be carefull not to let things get to hot.  Might remove the temper.  Been doing it this way for 6 years on the same blade.

$15 bucks to ship a blade and $35 to get sharpened. Or $75 for a new blade. Very expensive? Or you can spend hours messing with a trash blade trying to get some kind of edge on it yourself only to further trash the blade.

$50 bucks is not expensive.

Use 220 grit sand paper, stroke the edge from back to the front. And gently touch the sand paper to the inner lip. then do the top one more time, you may on the second time use 600 grit wet or dry.

Next time when you are done with the machine wipe it down and  then wipe it down again with WD-40  and or heavy oil.

Ron any stone will work to start, use a coarser stone to cleanit up and a fine stone to put an edge back on it, I sharpen mine on the machine, Just turn it on and hold the stone to the wheel first on the underside of the lip then the outer side . I use stainless blades and i would go trough 2 a year ,i tried having them reground but after a week they where dull so i tried the stone on one and it works great, Be very careful it will be razor sharp. and use a little w-d 40 during the process. This method works great for taking out any chatter as well
