Bear Head With Healed Bullet Damage ( Pics)

This really had to hurt !!! How that animal survived is really a testament to the species. You can still see a bullet fragment in the jaw bone. Just wish i could get all the grease out of the skull , had it soaking for a couple weeks in dawn at 120 Degrees and still has grease marks.

Bears can take MONTHS!
Be patient. After about three months, if it is still greasy, try soaking in ammonia for another month and go back to Dawn. You can also try cycling between Dawn, ammonia and acetone. Both ammonia and acetone do different things to the grease and oils.
Very nice bear. Poor thing. Do you get to keep this or is this for a customer?

If you are running a standard aquarium heater at around 90 degrees, degreasing a bear will take forever. You really need to get it up in the 115 degree range and it still may take 5 or 6 months.

My thermometer says like 118 degrees , that sure is a long time to soak that thing , wonder how much money that cost ya in electricity? Six months sure is a long time.

Bears can take longer than 6 months to degrease properly. Depends on what they were eating and the condition of the animal.

Is that glue showing on the picture of the molar? If it is, I would not use whatever type that is.

Well super glue would not hold that one in , used 5 min epoxy , 5 or 6 months in hot water might break it down , if not I'll have to fog it in with some white , then seal.
