how much should i charge

potentially have a client that i do alot of other stuff for that has a 8' alligator he wants me to mount, i have never done one so i dont really know what to charge, i have talked with carolina fur dressers and estimated that i will have roughly $500 in complete hide and head fleshing and tanning from a delivered raw state. Best i can tell another $500 in form and misc. material, so i guess i need an idea about labor,how long should i expect this job to take,??? what do some of you guys charge for this type of job. thanks

The rate varies from taxidermists and ther locations it is between 350 to 450 a foot some charge more. I hope this gives you a range, Good luck they are a lot of work but fun to do .

On an 8 footer you should start about 3,000 depending on experience level. the amount of work it will take altering the form and finishing later. Repairing all the scale loss from the tannery, will make you wich you charged double. always tan your own gators!!
