I just caped, fleshed, split lips, nose, eyes and turned ears on my second whitetail mount to be.It is my friends buck from this year.He must have been a warrior. He has an ear that is split 3/4 of the length of the entire ear and healed up this way.My buddy wants to keep it like this if I can.Is the bonded ear method the only means of accomplishing this.If so, how would I maintain it's shape while it is drying? Thanks in advance for any input.

I set my ears over an ear liner as a guide for the shape

I do the same thing. With the ear inverted you can fit it into the liner, trace the split, and then cut it out. That will get it close then test fit and adjust

I do what Bullwacker does, works really well for those good character splits.

I have had them with a big split in them and have separated [split] them as close to the edge and used the bondo just kept it off the cape, I know that Micheal p . tutorial with the Windex has made it a lot easier for me.
