Hey guys..I mounted up a bufflehead yesterday for a buddy of mine. Once mounted..I noticed the white feathers on top of one of the wings still had a little blood stain on it. I took a rag with some dawn to try to clean, wet the feathers down, and blow dried the feathers.  Since then I have not been able to get them to dry out and look right. They seem to have cleaned up..but I can not get that stringy look to go away now.  Any ideas on how to fix this now?  Ive rinsed another time or two with water thinking they were still dirty and blow dried them again but still no luck. Im still a newbie so any advice is great appreciated.

That is pretty much what you can expect to happen whenever you put any kind of soap-based watery substance on a mounted bird.
If the mount is already dry your easiest solution would probably be to remove the affected feathers, re-wash and re-dry them, and then put them back.

(And that is NOT always easy - it's just that the alternatives are even worse.)
