 Hello all,

Two years ago, my wife and I took a trip down to Missouri for a couple days of paddlefish fishing, had good success and a great time.
Well, we happen to have off the first week of April off again this year and naturally we'd  like to go somewhere and wherever we go, I'd like to do some sort of hunting or fishing if at all possible.
Unfortunately, the first week of April isn't really prime time for much of anything so far as I know;much as we liked the paddlefish fishing, we'd prefer to do something different this time around.

So,while I like to catch big fish, I'd be content with white bass or something similiar if the action is hot enough. Can't really think of anything shootable this time of year except for turkey. Heck, I'd do pigeons or crows if the shooting was good.  Is it warm enough for the catfish to be biting this time of year? Stripers?

I thought about about Reelfoot lake in Tennessee, but had read somewhere that this lake isn't what it used to be and is mostly living on it's reputation. I don't know.

We'd be leaving from Wis.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chuck

If you're interested in the Niagara Falls, NY region I could hook you up with some pretty amazing brown trout fishing in early April.  I fish out of Oak Orchard which is about halfway between Niagara Falls and Rochester.  Niagara Falls, the Casino and all the other tourist trap destinations are about a 45 minute drive.
With the lack of winter we have had our brown trout fishing will be heating up early so the first or second week of April should be perfect.
If you're interested in more info send me a PM.

Do you bowhunt?  If so, head to Nebraska for spring gobblers.  They have a bow only season that should be open.

I might know a guy in SW Wisconsin, about 30 minutes from Dubuque, would be the same mississippi river though..haha.  If interested, I could look up the name and number.

First week in April would be a bit early anywhere in the upper midwest for White Bass. But, that would be around the time big walleye can be caught as they start their "run". Winneconne/Wolf River area. Also, the Mississippi as mentioned. Other than that, I'd personally head a little south to get some warmer weather and some more actrive fish/numbers. I hadn't heard Reelfoot is down and I have a few regular customers that bring me fish to mount from there every couple of years. Mostly eater Crappie though, but lots of them and I'm not sure what time they're going. I believe they hired a guide too. Bluebank Resort looks like a nice setup and reasonable rates. But, all I know about them is what I've read on the internet. I never asked where my customers had stayed...

Crappie, stripers or turkeys in Ga. Plenty of guided trips that time of year.
