DIY mounting stand tutorial

ok so i just finished my DIY mounting stand  last sorry it took so long but i was working on beetle boxes all day but thats another day please remember that im only 24 years old and im still a beginner in taxidermy but im learning well i was raised working with my hands and making my own stuff ita all i know is working with my hands if possible i was looking in the catalogs the mounting stand were to damn high for  me at this time so i looked a McKenzie's book and i copied the ideal with mine any way here it is
things needed to make this project is a welder or somebody to weld
4-4 foot 1-inch black pipe
4-4 foot 1/2 inch black pipe
4-4 foot 1 1/2 black pipe
12- 14 bolts diameter doesnt not matter will also need some nuts that will fit the bolts
4-5 foot angle iron
after it was all said and done i had enough stuff to make three stands and one fish mounting/ and small game for bout 59 bucks for all four

1. first take the the steel plate which i cut in 4" by 4" and 1/2" thick  as the picture above shows that i welded it to the 1/2 black pipe  when it was cooling i went to the 2nd step

2. then i took a 1 inch and cut it off enough for the half inch it go through then i drill  two holes for bolts  ( every adjustment  thats on here has two bolts)
after i drilled the holes i welded two nuts on the side this is adjustment nuts and you must have a wrench to adjust the stand (please note that this stand can be as low as 36 inchs to over four foot tall) when cooling i moved to step three

3. step three i double checked the nuts and bolts then i put the 1/2 inch with steel plate that i welded during the first step and the slid it in the 1" inch pipe  and snuggled down the bolts

4. then i took the 4 foot angle iron and welded a X like shown above and then i welded some support where the legs are after cooling i welded the 1 1/2 pipe to the the X then i put it together the one inch pipe goes in the 1 1/2 pipe then 1/2 half inch pipe with plate goes into the inch pipe





this is the finished stand it can go up down turn in any which directions weighs bout 60 pounds  if y'all have any questions just ask thanks~Cook

all is left is to drill holes on the mounting plate for the form to sit

A small stand i made for fish and small game...only wielding i did was for the plate to 1/2" steel rod and the nut to the flat steel

Nice stand.  it  looks  very  close  to  my  stand  but  I  have  mine   bolted  to a   4  by  6  table  on  the  one  Corner  with  two  pins  with a   pipe  and  a  10x 10 plate  bolted to  the  table  and  then   two  pins  to  pull  it  off  like a   receiver  hitch  .


 The  only  thing I  would  change  about  yours  is  I  would  weld   some  4 inch  long  rods  on your  bolts  so  they  look  like  a  T  pin .  this  way  you  don’t  have to  look  for your  Tool  to   snug  them  up .    You  can  just  crank  on  them  by  hand  then . 
 

I made mine as well.  Sure love my wire feed welder.  And  Stick welder , IF   a  guy  is  handy   you  can  pay  for  the  welders  pretty  fast  by  making  all  kinds  of  things for  the  shop.

I  welded  up  a  frame  for  my  home  made  tumbler  as  well  .

X2 on the T-Pins.....yeah, wire and arc welders are fun to play with.....comes in handy for fixing my boat trailer and the motor toter i made...i like to use flat steel for tightening, i get a better grip

I'll have to see if I can get hubby to make me something like that.  I used and engine stand for my first mount, which worked alright to start with.  But I can't make any height adjustments.  So it's killer on the back, lol.
