I am amazed. I had some otherwise nice/clean skulls that had some pretty bad iron staining. I have them in the Iron-Out/water now, and every time I look, there is less orange! I just had to express my joy, and thanks for people on here who suggested this method. I will post pics soon.

Gotta love that stuff, it seems to work good also if you empty it out and put the skull in a fresh batch of iron out if it didn't come out as white as you want the first time around.

I've used it before in the past and had great results too.  It works.

Here are before/after shots of my raccoon skull. I soaked it for about 30 minutes.

Domestic Cat bones. There is still a yellowish tint to some places where the iron was, but I researched it and I think it is because the Iron Out had been not as fresh when I put the cat bones in.

Isn't it cool how you drop a skull into the iron out and you can actually watch it turn white

Dear forum-members,

Since I can't seem to buy this Iron-out product in Belgium (Europe), anyone know of a equal similar product for our region?
I was thinking about http://en.be.hg.eu/products/show/id/1448/rust_and_oxidation__stain__remover
It says to contain no acids and to be safe for calcerous stone so I guess it should be fine.
However it says that iron stains will turn purple and might leave discolorisation after.
Anyone ever tried this one or other products available in europe?

many thanks

Marc
