i just fleshed a fox head for a shoulder mount. i have ultimate acid and curatan from van dykes. but the amount of time i have to leave it in that pickel im afraid ill get slippage. i usually use half and half salt water and vinigar and turns pure white with in hrs. can i use that and still use the curatan? does it matter what tanning solution i use. also i dont know if ill be able to get to this when i should. so should i salt hide and freeze until i have time? i need help quick, as the hide is on my table right now not salted...

Once you put it in a acid pickle with salt, you can leave it in the pickle for as long as you want, as long as you keep the pH down to 2.0 or lower, just agitate it once and a while and monitor the pH once in a while, I store skins in the pickle some for over a year at times.

Ear slippage usually comes from your fingers, pinching/pushing the skin off while
over working
the ear. The fur is delicate to begin with, especially when wet and right out of the pickle or tan.
