--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i just fleshed a fox head for a shoulder mount. i have ultimate acid and curatan from van dykes. but the amount of time i have to leave it in that pickel im afraid ill get slippage. i usually use half and half salt water and vinigar and turns pure white with in hrs. can i use that and still use the curatan? does it matter what tanning solution i use. also i dont know if ill be able to get to this when i should. so should i salt hide and freeze until i have time? i need help quick, as the hide is on my table right now not salted...

IF IT HASN'T BEEN SALTED YET I WOULDN'T SKIP THAT STEP. I WOULD DEFINITELY SALT BEFORE PICKLING, SALT THEN IN TWENTY FOUR HOUR RESALT AND LET DRY COMPLETELY.

You can leave it in the pickle for quite some time and not have a problem.  My pickle consists of water, salt, and ultimate acid, that's it.  The instructions say to leave it in for a minimum of three days.  I've left stuff in there a lot longer, and have not had any problems what so ever.

As long as the pH is around 1, it can stay in the pickle indefinitely.
