Gang,

Not sure which route to go with this.  I shot this tahr last year and want to enter it into a competition BUT the form is HUGE!!!!!  when I tried to fit hte skin on I was roughly 8 inches short on the back from bringing it together.  Some would say just buy a different form but I want this pose and there are only 2 different tahr forms made so I am stuck.  I was thinking of cutting it along the purple lines and taking that section out but am not sure if that is the right way to go.  what do you guys think?Huh?  of course I want to keep the right dimensions and not mess the form up but am not sure what is the best way to shrink this thing to fit.

thanks guys and look forward to hearing from you.

It's tough without being there but I'll give it a stab.

I first have to ask if you really stretched the rehydrated skin widthwise? I know you probably did but that form is fairly skinny already so I had to ask.

Do the feet come all the way down and do the legs fit as far as circumference as well?

If so,I wouldn't "skinny up" that form yet.I would cut 2" of length, right behind the shoulder hump, tack it back together with 2-3" screws and try the hide again. How does the body circumference fit now?

I just wouldn't jump into  making it skinnier yet.It sounds more like your skin is distorted and stretched long.It might be the tanning, not been hydrated long enough, not stretched enough,I don't know but they are very stretchy normally.

I would cut a full 2" slice out, right in front of the "1657".If you get stuck,PM me and I'll get you my phone number.

I agree with Jim B regarding the "skinnying up" of the form It already looks like it has no belly and the neck looks too long to me also. If I was you I'd get a form that was the right size without rods and alter it to the pose you want, thats not a form I'd be keen to use.

Thats the exact form I used on this Tahr it was a large and heavy tahr I altered the head and neck because I didn't quite like the pose because the client did not want it on a steep downgrade but I would just cut out the section to make it smaller that would be easier than starting from scratch. Good luck
Alan

You also need to make releif cuts in the arm pits and the groin areas.. the skin gets pulled a good 3-4" up on each side in the arm pit..by doing this it will bring that edge of the skin 3-4 inches further towards the seam.. Add 3-4" on both sides and you have the 7-8" your missing.. That may be the issue.. I'd also take 1-2" out as Jim mentioned.. Wont make the form look so Long..
