I just got these back in the mail last night.  Here is the story.

A buddy and myself were able to put together a once in a lifetime deal where our wives let us go to NM to go snake hunting last spring.  We caught a dozen rattlers and froze them live and brought them home.  We wanted to get them mounted and after asking a few people on taxinet and reading through a ton of posts I gave Bob Greenwood aka "Redwolf" a call.  He was willing to do some wholesale work so I sent him four snakes and a snapping turtle.  I got the turtle back and I don't think it looks bad.  Then he said the snakes look good and sent them to me.  I am posting these pics of the snakes and you can make your own judgement on how he did.  Needless to say I wish people would be honest and give honest opinions when asked their opinions on other taxidermist 's work.  It would have saved me a lot of money and my snakes might have still looked like snakes!!!!!

What do you think???

Oh dear. I've done good business with Redwolf before, I would trust him 100%. . . but I do wonder what's happened here. Sad

I have tried to call BOB.  He will not return phone calls to try and make this right.  Use my experience as a lesson learned.  Those of you who actually take pride in your work, thank you!!!  I have decided to try and get some more snakes and learn how to mount these suckers.  I know I can do better than this!!!!

WOW! WTF!  Shocked  Ok well, porkchop I am sorry that your memories from your once in a lifetime snake hunt has ended up like this.  I hope Bob gets on here and straightens this out.  I would be EMBARRASSED and ASHAMED if work like that left my shop and was given to a customer.

The other comments I read, I will say this, either you were happy with his work because you don't know what it is suppose to look like yourself or he has completely fallen off his rocker. As far as advise goes, newbies have done it since the beginning of taxi net.  Someone will read a tip somewhere and remember it and then they will quote the tip or instructions.  Just because someone gives you advise doesn't mean they can do it themselves.  I have answered questions on here for guys in the past and the next week you see them telling someone else what you just told them the week before.  It's great to pass on knowledge, tips and info but it doesn't make a guy experienced because he can quote some tip.  I know fish tips, but my fish suck.  Sure I can tell someone where they screwed up because I can read reference.  Just because I can read reference doesn't mean I can do the job it takes to make it look as real as the guy did on it that I may be critiquing.  To many people refuse to admit that maybe they can't do what the next guy can do and some have blinders on and they think they are super stars when in reality they shouldn't even be able to call themselves a taxidermist.  I have had judges that have tried to BS me and I have had judges that were honest and said, hey I have the reference, I can read it but I just can't pick out the flaws on the critter because I don't know the critter.  Guess what judge I have the most respect for, the one that doesn't try to BS me. It's always better to be honest and face reality.  Porkchop I'll leave you with one more thing.  Your pictures of these dried up scale peeling searpents make me sick to my damn stomach.  I love the unfinished and horribly apoxie filled cavities, bulging eyes, sunk in eyes, unfinished mouths and so on.  I really hope you can get something worked out but no matter what the snakes and memories can not be replaced.   Sorry to see this.  Dan

Hmmmmmmm...that's not good.

You may be able to get your money returned, but there is no fixing that.

Wow! I couldn't believe the pictures either! There is NO excuse to return work looking this bad to anyone! I know what "porkchop" paid for these hideous creatures and that is what is most disturbing. Seems "redwolf" has disappeared in the wake of all this, deleting himself from forums and friend list. I am also doing some work for "porkchop" and I told him to send these "museum pieces" to me and I would see what I could do on the two that were most important, a blacktail and western for his friend, I can't imagine what "porkchop" is going through with this having to face his friend. I told him I may could cast a head and tail piece off the blacktail he sent me and add it to the hideous one and then paint it, yes paint it Bob! He sent me an extra western from their trip with the batch of snakes earlier that I will mount for his friends other snake. He will have to eat the other two westerns though. In the meantime I advised him to do everything possible to reclaim some of his loss from Mr. Greenwood. Bob if you have the balls to come on here and defend yourself please do, we are very ashamed of you in the reptile community and what you did to "porkchop". I personally would have said I [expletive deleted] them up and sent his money back before I would have pulled a stunt like this! Your reputation is going to be $h!t now in the taxidermy community unless you make it right with him! These pictures should be added to the "bad taxidermy hall of fame"! Or shame that is. PY
