I am no expert by no means but I think eye shape is off a bit, antlers set to high. Are the ears bondo? Shape is off, they look to long and no ear butts, It looks better than my first, second or third though, keep at it and good luck!!

ears need to be turned down some. so raine doesn't run down in side of them. not to sure about antlers. might need to tilt them back a little. cant tell to much on picture view. ear butts need more mussel definition. shape of eyes are off a little. noes doesn't look bad. get you some reference's and study them. keep it up. your heated in the right direction.

You really need to tuck those glands if it is still wet.

Tuck the glands, card the ears, put a crease above the eye, and get those pins out so you can adjust the eye as it dries.

I would also suggest you get rid of the pins.

What is everyone talking about when they say antlers are to high or to low.If a person takes the eye to burr and to the tip of main beams measurement how can this be off.I also take from tip of nose to burr and tip of main beams just for insurance reasons before skinning.I was just curious because I see this alot.

The amount you trim off the bottom of the scull plate.
Most are not trimmed enough making the antlers to high.

Ron, you can get a base to eye measurement of 2 3/4 and a tip to eye number say 15 inches and even mount the antlers BACKWARDS and still maintain the numbers measured. We of course wouldnt, but it does illustrate the point the measurements come AFTER anatomy. These guys readily notice when a line of anatomy, or a feature, is not correct. Thats why they say this. I really dont like critiquing heads in here, and seldom do so.

i took a measurement from nose to tip of antlers and the nose to the base on each side  before I skinned it. I basically made sure those measurements were identical when I mounted the antlers..
Other than that you are saying its just by sight..Thanks to everyone for the input..I did turn ears sligtly in and reshaped a tad. the gland I was unable to get to tuck anymore than it was. Too dry.
will take new pics when complete..

ny trapper, do you own a stout ruffer? If you do not you should deffinately purchace one! When you are tucking the gland use the ruffer to pull/possition the skin so that you have plenty of slack around the gland, then tuck the gland, it will go much easier for you. Same goes for the lips or anything elst that gets tucked....trust me it will help allot! Also use enough hide paste, if you are useing a short Y , you will sometimes wipe most of the hide paste off the face when puting the cape on. I will go through the mouth with the glue to reapply new paste to the facial area so I can taxi the skin more easily. Hope this helps. Rick

Looks far better than my 1st head!!!!! Keep at it and don't get complacent and I bet you can easily see the improvement on each of the next 2 heads you do as long as you take the time to really critique the one before. Good luck!!!!!!!!!
