hunt hard or go home

I was wondering.  When charging for pedestal I charge 60% more for the skin mounts. On a pedestal report since you don't have to skin and hide seam would a person still charge 60% more or would you knock it down some

Don't you mean repro too vs. repo?  Grin

My prices on pedestal mounts are negotiable depending on the fish and its inherent difficulties. I don't do straight prices on them but prefer to give a quote when all the specifics are known such as habitat etc.

As far as pricing a reproduction pedestal, that is usually a little cheaper, as I paint both sides of all my fish anyway.

I do charge more for repros vs. skin mounts regardless though due to having to purchase the blank and shipping.

Cecil has a point in that whether it be repros or skin mounts every specie has it's own unique challenges and time put into each mount. It takes me more time to do a 20" walleye than it does a 20" bass. But, I charge the same simply to keep it "simple". With reproductions I charge a couple of bucks more per inch than I do skin mounts and then for pedestals I simply have "add 50%". And, that's to both skins and repros. Again, just keeping it simple. Only 50% more IMO for a two sided skin is a deal. Whereas 50% more for a two sided replica is good money. I've often thought about dropping the price per inch thing and going with a flat rate for all species. It's probably the fairest way to go. But, I've always hesitated on pulling the trigger. Just because the price per inch deal is the industry standard. I went the posting my prices on my website route. I think IF you keep your prices unpublished you have more latitude here because then you can educate your potential customers when they call. I prefer not to get all those price shopper calls in the first place. I'm probably losing out on a few jobs, but I'm also probably saving some time not having to answer the phone from customers that are looking for the cheapest price. To post or not post prices is another thing BTW that I always go back and forth on...
