I don't do fish.  Just birds and furry animals.

I got a Velocity airbrush last year and LOVE it.  Perfect balance and wonderful for detail.  My eye work is 100% better.  My issue now is ears.  With the velocity, I can't seem to get a large list mist like I need.  I end up with white/flesh streaks or back off an then can't get good coverage.

Any tips for using the Velocity to paint ears?  Our eastern NC whitetails often have little hair in the ears and I use gray epoxy, so paint is a must.  Do I just need to use less of a detail airbrush for the ears?  All of the videos I have seen show nice furry ears that just need a light mist.  Not the bald stuff I am trying to make look good.

Also, can I add food coloring to the epoxy to turn it pink, or will that cause problems or bleeding thru later?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Higher air pressure gives finer atomization when looking for softer application of paint. The opposite would be lower pressure  for fine details. Both can be done easily with the velocity.

Thank you so much for your reply.  I just replied to your PM that I thought I might need to switch brushes for less detail.  Did not occur to me to change my pressure!  I'll try that this evening.

I wouldn't use food coloring. I would suggest dry tempra paint.
