I took in 10 mounts over the weekend.  6 sheep, 2 hogs, a Fallow Deer and a 550# LS bear to mount.  Wish I could have weekends like this more often.  Guess I am about to get really good at removing the horns from the cores soon.

LOL......skinning them was no joke either.  One or two maybe, but 6 was a damn long day.  Really sucks getting the skin between the horns and ears off.  I get $600 on the sheep, but after skinning all six out was thinking $6000 might be better.

I'm a moron, we were down in TX last week on an exotic hunt.  My buddy shot a record book Corsican ram and asked me if I would mount it.  I was in a good mood since I just shot a nice fallow so I say sure I'll do it for the price I do Wts $450.  This was before I started skinning.....  It was a huge pain to skin like you said and by the time I was done my hands were cramped up so bad.  Glad I filled my tag because I'm not sure I could have shot my bow right.  IF I ever do another one, I'm charging way more.  Another guy got a ram the next day and asked if he could pay me to skin it.  I didn't even ask how much, just said NO.  I don't even know how you did 6 in one day!

Congrats buddy, you've worked for it!  Call me if you need any help on those sheep horns.

Why is it a chore to remove the Horns?  I've done several and have never had a problem.  Except on those 4 Horn Rams.

I agree Michelle.  Macerate them off, they soak to remove the smell.  Didn't have any problems either.

Didn't say it was gonna be that hard, just saying since I have not had much experience with it that I would be getting really good at it.  Not trying to make it rocket science.  I think the skinning part was the hardest.

I picked up an Old Beetle Freezer... That is the BEST for poping off sheep and goat horns!  Bag it, toss it in, Turn it on 80 and let it sit... By the third day 90% off the horns have popped.  Can't wait to try it on popping hooves off large mammal skeletons..

A trick for skinning sheep... Make a cut at the narrowest point between the horns, and then angle up to the back of one horn.  Like a modified 7.   Then make the cut around the horns at the hair line and skin the forhead as far as you can  Flip it upside down or on end (I hang them by a rope on one horn) and skin the back down and then skin the face like a whitetail.  Super easy.
