So I have been reading a lot of your posts over the past 6 months trying to better prepare my self for this new career.  This is going to be my first post looking for criticism, and to be honest I am nervous.  It is because of the honesty on this site that I am already unhappy with some of the things that see in my own mounts (tear ducts to open, and I am not sure that I like the shape of my ears).  As one of the new guys to this arena, part of my problem is that I am not sure how to correct the things I don't like, and I am sure I am not even sure of all the things that I am doing wrong.  I have a lot of respect for most of the regulars on this site and it is with that respect that I ask for your opinions of my works.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

I will, got a couple DVDs now and have found quite a few videos online. You obviously think I need to improve some things, anything in particular?

I would start using earliners.  They look  lot more crisp and only cost 5 bucks.

If these are your first 2 mounts you are doing well. Some things that jump out are the eyelashes should point down at about a 45 degree angle, The ear buts need definition. Inside of ears may also need just a touch of paint especially on #2.  The ears may also need to be rotated a bit again to keep the rain out the top edge is rotated over the bottom edge (It is hard to tell from your photos. The ears dont look crisp. The grooming is pretty good overall it looks like on deer one the hair on the neck was brushed straight back it should be down (rain runs off). Buying the DVD as mentioned is good advice. As I said for your first 2 deer they look good. I see Taxidermy shops that put out worse mounts. Hang in there and keep at it

not to bad for your first attempts...i have seen work from people who have done work for years and don't look as good as yours...some things i see right off are, ear position, to much paint in the ears and nostrils....getting some dvds as mentioned above is the best help you can get.....good luck

To be honest I hate the idea of trying to remove the cartridge for the liner.  I seem to struggle with not tearing holes in the ears when turning, can't imagine what I would do trying to take out the cartlidge.  Any liners out the that you can leave the cartlidge in?
