We have had several requests for information on shipping mounts to Reno for the World Taxidermy Championships®. There are three options as listed below, but I will give my best advice without all the ifs, ands and buts.

For shipping a crated or boxed mount that weighs 100 pounds or less,  I recommend sending it to the Silver Legacy business center. One of our crew can help you transport it to the Reno Events Center, where the competition takes place, if needed. First come to the Reno Events Center, register and get your badge, and tell us what you need help with.

If you have a big crate or very heavy item, it would be better to send it directly to the site of the competition, the Reno Events Center (see item 2 below).

Finally, we have an 18-wheeler contracted to take our trade show setup and equipment out to Reno and back to Louisiana. We may be able to help you (see item 3 below).

The World Taxidermy & Fish Carving Championships® in Reno are shaping up to be a very special event. Hotel bookings have already exceeded any previous show in Springfield, Illinois, and we are still two months from show time. You might say it is going to be very interesting.

Ways to ship your mounts:

1. If you are staying at the Silver Legacy, which is o
nly one block away from the Reno Events Center, you can ship your entry to Silver Legacy business center. Address the package as:

Silver Legacy Business Center
Hold for Guest:   _____(your name here)__________
407 North Virginia Street
Reno, NV 89501

Their charge for receiving and holding your package is:
0-15 lbs. $5.00
16-30 lbs. $10.00
31-50 lbs. $15.00
51-75 lbs. $20.00
76-100 lbs. $25.00
101 lbs. and over @ 35 cents per lb.

You will need to pick up your package at the Silver Legacy business center and transport it to your room or to the Reno Events Center.

2. This is for competitors only. (Trade show vendors will be mailed shipping information the first week of March.) You can ship your entry directly to the Reno Events Center but it must be timed to arrive on the following days:  Monday April 16, Tuesday April 17, or Wednesday April 18. We have contracted with GES Exposition Services to handle all of our needs and services at the Events Center, including receiving and handling freight. We are charged a fee by GES which we must pass on to competitors who wish to ship items to the Events Center.

For small packages which weigh a maximum of 50 lbs., the cost is $20.00 per package. Any item over 50 lbs. will fall in a minimum handling cost of $127.40 for up to 200 lbs., then $63.70 for each additional 100 lbs.  Yes, if you have five packages that weight 45 pounds each it is cheaper to have them received individually rather than one heavy package. Items should be labeled as follows. These fees must be paid at the WTC Registration Desk BEFORE pieces can be entered.

Print your name on the container separate from the shipping label and indicate "Taxidermy" or "Fish Carving."
Write this on the label:
Attn. World Show Competition
Reno Events Center
400 North Center Street
Reno, NV 89501

3. I have contracted with Lee Moffitt, who is a part-time taxidermist and is an independent trucker owning his own 18-wheeler, to transport our World Show backboards, equipment, etc., from Louisiana to Reno and back. If your crated mount can be delivered to our office before 11 a.m. on Friday April 13, 2007 (our loading date), we can take your mount to Reno for a fair fee. If you would like to do this, arrangements must be made beforehand by calling the Breakthrough office at 1-800-783-7266. Space is limited and we do not have room to store large items before that date.
