Here is a brook trout replica I made and painted up this week. 22" with over a 15" girth, quite a chunk.

Well ,here is my contribution this week. I finished this beauty yesterday. I mounted the skin on a bowling pin and used a Horned Toad for the head. "lol"  Anyhow it was a fun skin mount to break up the week! This looks a great start for the week on those Fish photos, congrats everyone.

Oh boy!!! I'm almost EMBARRASSED to post this one after all these colorful beauties - WOW! Oh well, here goes!

This is a 3.5# Black Crappie skin mount I recently finished for a customer along with my youngest boy BADLY in need of a haircut (Btw, he keeps asking to get an AFRO - what's with THAT???) Back to the mount. This fish took "Best in Show" here in Shorewood with me judging. (It was the only entry btw!)

Some of the pinks and colors came out a tad goofy looking due to dropping the photo down in size I guess. Here's a close-up that was taken indoors that should show the colors closer to what they actually were. I DO like the previous photo though to gaina  perspective of how BIG that thing was!!!

Ahhhh, pinks still look goofy. (They aren't really there in some places - I'll bet you can guess where???) Oh well, good enough!!!

Just wanted to drop by and share a few that I was recently inspired to do after  talking to Mayhem. I really liked his bone fish so I did one mysefl and aslo a Pacific thread fin called a Moi here in Hawaii.
I molded a real reef and coral from silicone and casted my base in resin and fiberglass.

You guys have awesome work! Frank as usual masterful fish and basework, your my fish sensei!

Aloha
Layne

Hawaii game fish, it's great to see some odd fish, other than the everyday work load. But, those just might be your everyday work load. NOT MINE!

Yup, everyday fish for me.. I think we have similar types of fish in our waters like Florida.
But in Florida, they diffinitly got more awesome salt water game fish with those huge Tarpon, Snook, Permit, and red Fish.

I live on the Big Island and it is the youngest of all islands. We have very few fresh water ponds and most of them are brackish. So we do not have fresh water species here. The closest we have that I know of is  carp. Other than that, it's all marine fish.

There are freshwater species on the older islands like Oahu and Kauai. Large mouth bass, Rainbow trout, Tucanary.
