What do you all use for Gray Partridge eyes? i used search and the only answer that came up was 9mm brown but looking at reference pics their eyes look more light brown to almost an orange Pheasant like eye.

I have one in the process of being mounted but the eyes were freezer burnt so no natural comparison. What do you all suggest?

If you contact Roger Degiorgio he can get you any eye you need. He hand paints every one of them and they are very detailed which is difficult to see in the online photos. even different colors for birds that eyes vary for seasons. Really good prices and (in at least some cases) free shipping!

really nice guy, great to deal with and a definite bird person! One of the very memorable folks I met at Nationals this year. :-)

Tell em Kay and Shadow sent ya.

Nightwhine closed suddenly due to health reasons. Mom and Baby lived. We do not know if the shop will reopen, as her baby now faces a sea of specialists for disabilities and delays. We've tried/trying to get the few remaining mounts to clients or items returned. Sorry for any inconveniences.

Anytime. Glad to be able to help! He and his partner are pretty awesome folks. I think they may be at world next year and or nta also.. Not 100% sure. Heck he even makes small mammal eyes with blue glint and everything that are amazing. (esp for miniature sculpture or even small mammals that are appropriate ) I think the only thing he doesn't do is fish but I could be wrong on that!

I contacted Roger and i have to say that it was probably the BEST customer service i have ever witnessed!! He helped me out in finding the perfect eyes for this partridge (he custom painted them for me from my reference photo). His email replys were quick and very helpful. I cant wait to receive the eyes he did for me and i cant wait to do buisness with him in the future!!

Kay- Thank you very much for directing me to Roger! I have nothing but the highest reccomendations for him and will likely have more once i receive the eyes.

You are most welcome. :-)

Even after only just meeting him a nationals I had nothing but respect for him myself and confidence that he would be able to help you! He is very devoted in all that he does, and that devotion really shows in his demeanor and work.

Thank you for the updates on your business correspondence!

I recieved my partridge eyes from Roger Degiorgio yesterday and i jumped right into the project. Here are some pics of the eyes he painted for me and the drying mount (still finish base and finish work to be done). feel free to point out anything that needs fixing on the mount as well.

And here is the reference photo i was attempting to match (photo is not mine)

yea that was the only one that matched the actual eyes from the bird. the lighting in that room wasnt great and the color in the photos dont do them justice. when i held them side by side they were perfect!

Yea.. messed with me to when I fist saw them at the show.. I began to thing nah, not acrylic.. but then I took the time to actually LOOK at them.. As an artist that used to paint and work with other mediums (before taxidermy) it got my attention. With most things I look at it and go well, cool, I can make that.. When I saw these it was more of a how in the heck did he do that. It was nice for a change. As adults people loose that childlike awe and for a second I had it back! After talking to him I learned a bit about the process he uses and how the paints literally weld themselves into the eye which keeps them from coming off with clay. And also about the acrylic hes using carrying a lifetime guarantee as it is used in the manufacturing of airplace windows/windshields. and of course everyone likes a product that doesnt scratch up or break when dropped. Hes a great artist that has done a lot of research and stands behind a product he believes in.. and STILL a friendly guy! I hope everyone gets a chance to meet him sometime and see these for themselves. Im still trying to come up with a better way to photograph them but my camera just cant see the details! Thanks again for giving him a try and sharing your work with these eyes!
