What do you guys think about an art category? There seems to be quite a few artists on here and I think it would be a good idea. Taxidermy can blend with art in many ways, so why not. I would love to see a category for Art where we can show off our newest pieces and discuss techniques, etc.  Smiley

I think there are websites for "art" already. And there only seems to be a dozen of "you" picture drawers on here as compaired to your "seems to be quite a few". Some of you draw dragons and mythical creatures that have nothing to do with taxidermy. Some of the drawings are 7th &b 8th grade level, although better then I could ever do, most of it is not very impressive. The bad drawings even get a good passing critique by smoke blowers. Taxidermist can be artistic in many fields, there is wood working, bronze casting, ability to play musical instruments, painters, picture scratchers, word smiths, there are many talents that taxidermist have, but this is a taxidermy site. Current events would be a good spot to post your drawings. Why do you need a special spot?
Nina, you have talent in many areas, I am only posting an opinion, I am not degrading you.

I am posting my art, to show that what means much to me, means nothing to others, and that's how most of what gets posted here as "art" is. This is my first picture that I drew in Kindergarten. My Mom kept it, framed it and gave it to me for Christmas last year. Believe it or not, I do remember drawing it when I was five, back in 1963. If you can't pretend to figure out what it is, it is a airplain dropping bombs on another plain. A man jumped out of the door (see the door on the red plain?) with a parachute.

    Mr. T
If I could post my first picture, it was a plain purple egg. Era Sept. 68. You would laugh your butt off.   Tom

Maybe there will be no new category, but keep posting your art Nina. There probably are a lot of taxidermists who dabble in other arts. I think it makes you a better taxidermist. I have been learning to paint with acrylics and I also like to draw. In order to paint something you really have to look at it and break it down into components to paint. That will help you become a better taxidermist. Hopefully I will get a little better soon and post something here.

Nina, I enjoy seeing your paintings as well as the different artistic endeavors of the others that post them here.  As long as they are wildlife related! Keep them coming. This is a taxidermy site and Ken has really bent over backwards to give as much wiggle room as he possibly can in that respect. But I think you can imagine what COULD happen if he were to open up too many unrelated categories.
