Hey Gang!

WOW thanks for the kind words! This fish is a customer Bass for a gentleman and a great guy in Alabama! This is one of Dave Campbell older fish repro's the JG Replicas in Washington sells. I did a few modifications (very few) and both sides of the cast are Good enough to work with for sure! I will be posting a steelhead later maybe today ( it is a pedestal from Dave Campbell one of his new line of cast) They truly are some of the very best I have ever seen from allot of diffrent perspectives. The anatomy is flawless ( well close as I can scrutinise) because of Dave's methods of incorporating taxidermy and modling to make for the quality he produces. As a taxidermist and a fan of great fish I really enjoy working with a canvas that lends it self to my unique or unconventional style of painting i do and teach to others. I see allot more folks formmer students and folks they have influences alike using some of these techniques and trying new things and that is what we should do fro time to time to find what works best! Fish work is only going to get better if Folks keep the box open and the envelops pushed( that is all the cheap analogies I can think of) LOL!

    Very, very nicely done! If that is a repro, I may just have to change my mind about reproduction mounts! Flawless paint job and nice, natural lines. Nothing like the banana-posed old repros with acute hyperextension of the lower mandible. I might just go grab some dynamite and go fishin!

All I can say is "WOW"!  I've been in this business for 25 years and I've known Rick for nearly 20 and I can honestly say that his painting is better today than it ever was and seems to be getting better with each fish.  Its no wonder he has become the nation's leading fish educator.  Heck, he even has ME wanting to get back into competing with fish.  Got any room in your schedule to teach an old dog some of your new tricks?

My guess would be outdoor and this one on over cast days. Of coarse I only say that because of the second photo. Of the head.

I've known Rick for 27 years and his fish keep getting better and better. His painting techniques are different to say the least, out of the box if you will. What amazes me is his ability to transfer his knowledge and techniques to the heart, hands and soul of his students.  Definitely the best  transferrer on fish knowledge  in the universe. Makes me want to be a fish guy .
