Hey guys, this is where I will be posting my progress on my current art pieces. I figured it's better to just have one thread dedicated to art in the current events forum to keep things neat. Feel free to post your own work too. This is like the "What are you working on" thread in Deer & Gameheads, the only difference is it's dedicated to the visual arts.

Here is sequence of my progress on the commission I have been working on..One more work session after school today and it's going to be done. Mediums used are an Ebony art pencil, and powdered graphite for the background.

This is where I left off

Hi Nina, I recently started painting and decided to jump on and try a couple bluebirds. I am hoping for a more realistic look to my paintings someday, but I was fairly happy with this for an early effort. It looks OK if you step back a few feet (the farther the better  Cheesy).

Jon, I think it looks great...Painting is really hard to do but looks like you did good...What kind of paints did you use? It looks like acrylic.

I'm working on a watercolor painting right now, (well I'm adding color to a line drawing I did in art class) I will post it sometime when I get my buck drawing done.

Can you cook, too, Nina? You draw so purty! Oncet upon a time I could do a little drawing, but I just couldn't get the mammals drawn right. Deer, horses, had problems with them all. Birds, I did OK with, but I really kept them basically to flying pheasants. Familiarity I guess. Saw a great deal of them flying back when young and able to get around better. Also, helped to have a gung ho Irish Setter, now long dead. Still miss his red blur, though. He could run all day, pick burrs out all evening, sleep for the night, and be raring to go the next morning. Craig and I killed a passel of birds with him.

Nina, Yes it is acrylic paint. Lately I have been practicing painting different kinds of tree bark and also apples, trying to get the 3D look. The hardest part for me has been mixing colors to get the correct hue.

This is my project for art class I was talking about, but it's not finished yet. I did the line drawing first and now I'm painting it with watercolors. It's been a while since I used them but I'm starting to like them a lot. This is not meant to be a realistic picture, rather an abstract-like "self portrait", surrounded by the things I love. Be easy on me, I haven't painted in a while. It will look a lot better once completed.
