The Week in Fish Pictures~ Week #33 May 18 2007- May 24 2007

Good Morning from Drummondville Quebec Canada and the Quebec Taxidermists Association Annual convention and competition! The Show is from Saturday through Monday if you are one of our Quebec or Canadian participants and are thinking of coming please do and drop by and say Bonjour!!!

What a great week in pictures this past week! I thank you for visiting and taking the time to share with us!!!
Week # 33 is upon us. Thanks to everyone who has participated last week! Well Over few thousand hits!!! Huge!!!!!! This is one of the fastest growing if not the fastest growing strings on the forum! It is because you share your talent and knowledge with others in a positive friendly manner! Folks need to see that learning is not about any thing then having fun and appreciating great work! Here's to all of you!

Last week we had some Great Fish from a lot of giving folks who don't mind sharing and helping others with some inspiration and cool fish!

We had lots of new folks and some folks who haven't been with us for a while! Welcome and Welcome back! The work this past week was nothing short of breath taking and the artist who shared take a bow for your beautiful efforts!

Each week Pictures can be posted of recent work or work your proud of to show and share with your pears!

Everyone is welcome to post, from beginners to the advanced.

So here goes! I thought I would start out this week with Blast from the past! Maybe we could get a theme going but don't feel you have to but it would be fun!
Here are my very first fish I ever competed with! The bass was my first and I took a 3rd in the amateur division 23 years ago the next was a Walleye that was my first  1st place 21 years ago. It takes time to learn what we need to ( not sure if I have figured it out yet by the way) to get good at our craft and we all start some where. Work hard and keep an open mind while you learn and don't be worried or get down on you self for making mistakes. Mistakes are part of learning and you want to make them so you can reproach your task with more experience!  Have a great week!!!!

Rick Krane

First Fish I ever competed with. 3rd place Amateur

First 1st place Professional ( hey who's the guy with all the hair? Thinner too LOL!!!)

Well thank you Sparky. I like the various pearl powders by Polytranspar that WASCO carries. In the above walleye I used the Yellow Gold Pearl mixed with a tad of basecoat sealer (any gloss/clear will do). I left a few dozen scales un-tipped and came back with the same gold pearl mixed with a few drops of bright yellow. I carried the tippings into the head as well along with a few gold "worm-marks". I start everything by putting on my 2.0 reading glasses - lol!

Great work fishstuffer how long was the walleye ? The picture just doesnt do it justice for the size. It almost looks like our average 9 pounder around here. Any how looks great.

Yes, nice mounts there FishStuffer. Pretty cool looking Flounder/habitat as well Gus.

Marc, when are you going to figure out how to post some of your beautiful work? Also, your shop and productive mindset has always impressed me. I've seen pictures of your shop, but nobody believes me that you have three beautiful 20 year olds in little orange shorts and tank tops doing all your skinning and fleshing!!!

Rick, very "Trump-like" doo there buddy!!!
