taxi101, the fish in my avator is a palamino trout...(WV golden trout to some) And as for time, If I clocked every minute of every hour that I spent, I would say it was 70 or so hours.  BUT.... i was doing a lot of new techniques that cost me a bit of time, I also was not happy with my first bodies curve, so I redid it as well.  Little setbacks that cost time and add up after a while.

They are found in almost every hatchery here in WV.  I am sure that most fish farms here sell them.  I got that one from a pay to fish pond near Elkins.

Mr. Bill Fraad recently moved back to the New england area From TX. Bill spent a few days with learning some cool painting techniques. Bill painted a Largemouth bass and a rainbow, brown and a Smallie. We worked on reproduction preparation and eye setting as well. Here are a few pictures of Bills repro bass.

Fishheads of all levels spending time with Rick here in PA have kicked third work up to the next level. This is a tremendous opportunity for several motivated people and budding fishheads. Pictures will be posted this week of all the fish work that was done with Rick.
The work will speak for it self.

Here's is the latest installment from Waterford, PA.  I'm posting for Rick today because he's busy instructing the class on the finer points of painting--I just wish he wouldn't beat them so much!

Before we can get around to finishing our fish we need to get some good reference.

With proper reference (and good instruction) the desired results can be achieved.

These pics are from the first class.  The second class will be posted in the next few days.

Here is a pike replica I just finished.  Its the biggest one I've done.  It took some time and tried my patience a little.  My cousin was happy to hold it anyhow.  Here goes.....

It has been a while with my traveling shedual so I wanted to take this opportunity to show some of the work some really talented and motivated folks have been doing with me. This week I will be showing some of the last few recent Fishheads who I had the pleasure and honor of being able to share some time with. This first gentleman Mr. Corey Logo of Greenville, PA is an accomplished bird taxidermist and soon to be a award winning fish taxidermist as well. Here are a few photos of Corey going through his workshop in his studio with me in PA.

I will be posting a few more folks in different fish situations of learning I hope you enjoy!
