I tried to make one universal art thread, but it kinda got lost and I've stopped posting on it. I'll try to find it again in Current Events and bring it back up to the top when I put new stuff on it. I'm almost done with a new kudu drawing.

I was thinking about this new category today, and in a way it actually does relate to taxidermy, because at almost all taxidermy competitions, there is a category for flat original wildlife art and sculptures. Smiley

Not only that Nina, but it seems most taxidermists do a little art as a hobby.

Yes,Yes,Yes,,,This is a great way that taxidermist and other Wildlife Artist can show there work...Wildlife Artist love what Taxidermist do, we get to play with the real thing.. There is a strong love of wildlife and we can put it together,,why not......If you don't care for it no problem don't go on the site..But lets not try to keep others out...As long as its wildlife art not just paintings of other subjects....I have done taxidermy for over 20 years, and I have been doing oil paniting for 17 years...I don't if you know the guy on TV with the Afo hair do, Bob Ross on PBS.. Well I had gotten hurt in 1986, and I was laid up for 8 months...I saw Bob on TV and said man I would like to do that!!!!So I got better and called him and off to school I went..I went for the first set of lessons and then I went back 3 months later...I was asked if I wanted to become an Instructor..I said yes and I wend back for more lessons..And I became a Bob Ross Instructor....I started painting background landscapes and then started adding my mounts to the pictures...It was a big hit...I was mounting everything into picture frames with backgrounds....Then I started doing my Love pieces, Primates..I was doing Recreations and adding them to painted scenes with Habitats....I  won the NTA 1,2,and3 place that year...I also won 3, 2nd.place ribbons at the World Show.. As I was doing my seminars on Habitats I would show these pieces with Squirrels,Ducks, and Bass with water splashes coming right out of the canvas..I called it 3-D Taxidermy Art.. Ihad clients bring me photos of where they caught a fish or was hunting and then I would paint there background add there mount with habitat and man it doen't get any better that that for your client.... And you don't have to charge a arm and a leg, but you sure can make a nice profit........I have two Videos on the Market Video #11 and #12..11 is for a duck standing..and #12 is a bass jumping with splases...The video shows how to paint the scene add the mount and the habitat..Sold at WASCO, McKenzie,Hide and Beak or from me............OK you say Rick I can't draw or paint..I can't draw either...But painting you can learn....Ok you don't want to learn,,Get with a artist in your area and have them paint what you want and add your Taxidermy work.....Theres alot of college students looking to make extra money that can paint....I had one lady painting for me, she lives in a nursing home she was 78 years young...She needed something to do, and I paid her also..A great Combo....................So any way thats what I have to say about that..We can use all the knowledge that God gives us, and to show others works will make us all rich in heart and mind...Good Luck, Rick Kennair
