steer skull

I have a steer skull I putting on a plaque for a guy.  I have the horns off the cores, I was just wondering about cleaning out the insides of the horns them selves before putting them back on the cores.  Thanks for any help, Kevin

I had a really long horned Highlander that I did. Once I got the horns off I propped them up so I could pour boiling water with Dawn added to it inside. I let that soak, pour out and do it again a few times. Then I srubbed the dickens out of the inside with a really big bottlebrush (the type for really big thermoses). Then I poured in some peroxide and let it soak for a few days. The peroxide didn't change the color of the horns but it did dissolve a lot of the little nasty bits left. I also cut the cores back to about half what they were originally. The insides of the cores themselves are full of nasty goo that you have to get out.
