I looked in on my dremsteid beetles today and found a few beetles that were a different color. They were black with a lighter colored middle. I have a small hole in my screen top and am sure they came in from the outside. They are the same size as my dremsteid beetles. Are they wild dremsteid beetles of some kind? How bad is this ?       Monte

Possibly Dermestes lardarius http://www.the-piedpiper.co.uk/th7o.htm

I would suggest you not allow wild dermestids to bring diseases or mites into the colony - the screen is as important to keep things out as it is to keep things in.
