slightly off topic, driftwood

I have some stump driftwood,  Cyprus I thing (very light color)  I am trying to get it waterlogged for my aquarium.

The wood is completely submerged and has been for 10 days.   How long does this take?

Am I doing something wrong?

Um,  I'm not sure, but I think it's called driftwood for a reason..it floats. NOT trying to be smart, but I don't think it CAN be submerged?

i think its going to take longer than you think.        like a couple of months.

You could probably just attatch a weight to it and leave it in the aquarium until it won't float anymore.  Then just take off the weight when it is waterlogged...

I haven't put driftwood in our tank in a while, but they always had a piece of slate attached to the bottom. I would guess it will still have some buoyancy to it for quite some time. I did notice that in time the wood does eventually breakdown, so if the piece is big or the tank is small it may have an effect on the quality of the water depending on what you plan on putting in the aquarium.

I don't know how big the wood is but you can drill out the bottom and add fishing weights sinkers.. if it is a big peice of wood drill out the bottom and bondo a 1/2 of brick  inside. Good Luck Rick.
