What is the best method for preserving large alligator heads for mounting.  I have little experience with such large reptiles and have heard several different opinions, so now I am at a loss as to the best method.   Any TRUE experts have any suggestions.  Thanks. RB

RB, freeze drying is one solution if you don't want to mess with it. I personally like to do them the contemporary way. This requires a lot of work on your part though. If you have never done it before I don't think you should start off with a large one. Try to get your hands on a smaller specimen and get a feel for it.

The process in doing an alligator head mount is a bit lengthy to write down here. I would suggest you get the Breakthrough Reptile mannual. The steps for doing an alligator are explained in detail in it. Smiley
